Kailash Mansarovar Pilgrimage (Tibet, China) and more ...

And then we reached Shiv Sthal ... a point of no return ... to experience our symbolic death. People with few sins supposedly find a path to the heavens during this pilgrimage ... hence, called Kailas-vasi [Literal: Resident of Kailash] There was hardly any chance that someone with my level of "sin"-load would be allowed such an easy escape. I had to trudge along further and higher to Dolma La Pass (18,466 ft.) to be re-born, and then back down to earth to pay the rest of my dues!

Sights in Tibet through admission tickets

Entrance ticket to each park, preserve or monastery is a stamped postcard (with sufficient postage to mail anywhere in China), and a souvenir. Here are some of them:

View from Pang La pass at 5,050 m. On a clear day, you see these five Himalayan peaks - each over 8,000 m in height. Although we were able to see the mountain ranges clearly, the peaks themselves were covered in clouds that day!
